We at Herbivore Botanicals are grateful for another year of inspiration, growth and truly natural beauty. But our favorite accomplishment this year is our continued ability to give back to causes we believe in.
In 2018 we’ve donated portions of our sales to Oceana, Women for Women International, Trans Women of Color Collective, Queer & Trans Youth Music Project, and Americans for Safe Access—but we have not done it alone. Thanks to your generous support, we’ve raised over $40,000 for these communities.
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to participate in the charitable season by supporting these organizations that are so close to our hearts.
Women for Women International
We were very proud to join forces with Women for Women International to celebrate International Women’s day in March 2018. Since 1993, Women for Women International has been supporting marginalized women in areas of the world affected by conflict by providing access to health education, legal counsel, and community building resources. These vocational skills allow women to create sustainable change for themselves, their families and their communities, helping them move from crisis and poverty to stability and economic self-sufficiency.
Oceana is an international organization focused solely on oceans, dedicated to achieving measurable, positive change with specific, science-based campaigns to protect and restore the world’s oceans. Since it was established in 2001, Oceana has achieved hundreds of policy victories for marine life and habitats, from banning destructive fishing techniques to protecting sea turtles from commercial fishing gear. As ethical ingredient-sourcing and conservation are foundational elements of our brand philosophy, working with Oceana to protect our ailing oceans is a cause we were happy to support on Earth Day 2018.
Trans Women of Color Collective
In honor of LGBTQIA Pride, we spread some rainbow magic partnering with Trans Women of Color Collective (TWOCC). TWOCC is a grass-roots funded global initiative created to offer opportunities for trans people of color, their families and comrades, to build and foster community. TWOCC has created safe spaces to protect trans and gender non-conforming people of color from violence and discrimination, aiming towards their ultimate goal to liberate all oppressed people through education and compassionate leadership.
Queer & Trans Youth Music Project
Queer & Trans Youth Music Project (QTYMP) supports queer and trans youth in Seattle (and beyond) through programming that focuses on music, empowerment, and social justice. Its leadership is running programs like Rouge Rainbow, a space where queer youth can hang and organize, and Camp Emerald, where young queer musicians can learn to play an instrument or form a band. We continue to support QTYMP by donating $1 from every sale of our PRISM Exfoliating Glow Potion to their initiative.
Americans for Safe Access
As part of our mission to shatter the stigma surrounding cannabis use, we’re donating $1 from every EMERALD Deep Moisture Glow Oil sale to Americans for Safe Access. This organization aims to shatter international, federal and state laws and regulations that do not recognize cannabis as medicine, and encourages medical professionals to recommend cannabis in favor of synthetic formulas as a main treatment option for patients. Americans for Safe Access supports education, safe farming practices and research of cannabis, empowering patients and caregivers to consider an alternative, holistic approach to their health and wellbeing.
