Facial Oil for Oily Skin? Often times when we over-wash our skin and do not moisturize thoroughly, it can overcompensate by producing more sebum leading to oilier skin and even clogged pores. Our facial oils are made with truly natural plant oils that will help lock-in hydration without clogging pores so that the skin can stop overcompensating and find the balance it needs. In short, yes, oily skin needs moisture too and can get dehydrated, leading to dry patches and skin that looks and feels out of balance.
Concentrated Moisture. Oils are concentrated, effective moisturizers. Our oils sink in quickly to moisturize and nourish with emollients, fatty acids and antioxidant vitamin E, to give the skin a radiant glow.
Scent: Herbal and slightly sweet with a fruity note
Texture: Lightweight oil
Color: Deep blue
Please note: Due to the natural color of Blue Tansy Oil, Lapis Oil may vary in color from deep blue to green. The color may also change from blue to green if exposed to light over a period of time. This does not indicate that the product is not as safe or effective to use as one that is blue in color.
How to use
- Apply 4 to 6 drops to cleansed and toned skin, morning and night, avoiding the eye area.
- Massage in and allow to absorb for 1-3 minutes before applying makeup.
Ingredients
Key Ingredients:
- Blue Tansy: Contains Azulene, which is a deep, inky-blue color naturally helps to soothe dry irritated skin, reduce the appearance of redness and balance skin.
- Kukui Nut Oil: Naturally high in linoleic acid to help balance blemish-prone skin. Absorbs quickly into skin with a lightweight, silky feel to nourish and help lock-in hydration.
- Jojoba Oil: Jojoba is an incredible natural moisturizer that is rich in waxes, similar to the skin's natural sebum, and is able to penetrate into the skin surface to condition and help prevent moisture loss.
- Squalane: Our Squalane is derived from olives. Squalane feels weightless while having excellent emollient properties and supports the skin's natural protective barrier to help lock moisture in the skin and prevent dehydration.
- Jasmine Sambac Oil: Comes from the night blooming variety of Jasmine. It is a sweet and exquisite oil that has been used in skincare and perfumery for centuries with good reason, the scent is intoxicating and it has moisturizing properties to help keep skin soft and supple.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I use the oil in place of my regular cream moisturizer or along with it?
You can use this in place of a moisturizer OR layer on top of your moisturizing cream to lock moisture in.
When should I use a facial oil?
We recommend using a facial oil as the last step in your routine (after moisturizer) but before SPF. In addition to providing deep moisture, our facial oils have a variety of treatment benefits to help you reach your skin goals. If you have oily - combo skin, facial oils can be used in replacement of a moisturizer. If you are normal - dry, try layering on top for extra moisture and to seal in all of the skincare that comes before!
Can I use Lapis if my skin is dry but I also have acne or breakouts?
Lapis is not only great for acne and oily prone skin, but it is also very hydrating. So yes, this would also be a great option for dry acne prone skin
Is Lapis Oil packaging recyclable?
Yes, the glass bottle and cap can be recycled after rinsing. Our cardboard is made from FSC certified paper and recyclable.

I ran out of my blue tansy for a few weeks and my skin definitely noticed it. With red blotchiness and skin texture coming back, I went back to blue tansy, and my skin is already looking better again after a week. This oil also helped me stop my adult acne when I first started it a few years ago. Grateful for herbivore.

I’m not a fan of putting oil on my skin, but when I recently had a microneedle done, I needed something that would help repair my skin barrier while I was avoiding my vitamin C serums and acids. I suspect the squalene in this face oil helped my skin recover faster without causing irritation. Will be using this again for future skin barrier needs.

The only thing I use for my acne. It works so well. I’ve tried other things and this is my go to.
