Is everything that you make really natural?
Yes! We use the finest natural ingredients we can find. This includes herbs, butters, clay, sea salts, and natural oils.
Are your products vegan?
Our line is 100% vegan with no animal testing whatsoever. We are PETA and Leaping Bunny Certified and we do not purchase from suppliers who are unable to prove that they are also cruelty-free. We love animals, and it is very important for us to stay cruelty-free.
Do your products contain gluten?
None of our products contain gluten or gluten-derived ingredients. Moon Fruit and Pink Cloud both contain Xanthan Gum as an emulsion stabilizer. While this ingredient is not known to cause a reaction in those with Celiac or gluten sensitivities, we like to mention it just to be extra safe.
Are your products safe to use during pregnancy?
The only products we don’t recommend using during pregnancy/while nursing are Blue Tansy Mask, Prism, and Jasmine Green Tea Toner. These products contain an ingredient called White Willow Bark Extract (natural BHA), which can act as a blood-thinner when ingested like Aspirin. Although you won’t be eating them, we like to mention it just to be extra safe. All other products should be safe to use, but we do recommend that you consult your physician to be sure these products align with your pregnancy plan.
Where do you source your materials from?
The majority of our ingredients are sourced from within the United States. We do research to make sure our ethics align with those we source from.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Since our products are truly all-natural and we do not use any unnatural preservatives at all, our products do have a shelf life of typically 12 months. If our products are kept out of direct sunlight and at room temperature or below, they will stay fresher longer. All of our liquid products include a totally natural preservative called Leucidal (Radish Root Ferment). We also use Vitamin E in some of our products to extend the natural shelf life and keep the oils in their freshest and most potent form. In the rare case that you purchase one of our products and find that it is not at its freshest point, please email us so we can handle this on a case-by-case basis. When is the best time to apply facial oil? Can I wear makeup over facial oil?
We recommend applying our facial oils after cleansing and toning, morning and night. The facial oils can be used alongside or in place of a moisturizer. Your face does not need to be completely dry to apply facial oil, in fact, it is helpful and increases fast absorption and spreadability if your face is slightly damp.
You can wear makeup over facial oil. Let your skin absorb the oils for 3–5 minutes before applying makeup since the oil does need time to sink in. If your skin feels oily after this, you are using too much facial oil. If your skin feels dry and you want more moisture, you are probably not using enough facial oil. The oil should absorb fully and not leave any greasy/oily feeling at all. Your skin will feel hydrated and soft/smooth after applying the correct amount. Most people need 3-5 drops — please adjust accordingly to your skin’s individual needs.
What if my toner/Sea Mist/hair perfume looks cloudy?
Toners, Post Shave Elixir, hair perfumes, and Sea Mists all contain Aloe Water. Since this is a natural, unprocessed ingredient, every batch of Aloe Water that comes to us varies slightly in cloudiness, resulting in variations of cloudiness/clarity in each batch of toners, Post Shave Elixirs, and Sea Mists that we make. This cloudiness does not make the product less effective or less pure, it is simply a result of the natural look of the Aloe Water itself.
What amount of the bath salts or bath soaks do I put into my bath water?
We suggest using ¼ of the bottle of salts, and ⅙ to ⅛ of the bottle of soaks per bath. The bath salts are intended to last for approximately 4–5 baths. Our soaks are intended to last for approximately 5–8 baths. Also, there is no harm in adding more or less, it's really a personal preference.
Do your products contain any nut oils?
Yes, our Beard Tonics contain Argan Oil and our Lapis Facial Oil contains Kukui Nut Oil. These types of nut oil typically do not irritate people with nut allergies, but we recommend consulting your doctor first if you have a nut allergy.
Where can I buy your products in my area?
Your shipping rates seem high, why is that?
Our products are enclosed in all glass vessels and are quite heavy. We take every measure to safely package our ingredients to your doorstep to ensure safe arrival and hence shipping may be slightly higher than one might expect.
How soon can I expect my order?
All items ordered and paid for will ship within 1-3 business days (excludes weekends and holidays) unless otherwise noted in the description of the product or on our website.
For U.S. Orders: We primarily ship through UPS. After shipping, please allow another 5 business days for your order to arrive for standard shipping. APO, FPO, and PO box addresses will be shipped with USPS.
For International Orders: Please allow up to four weeks for your order to arrive after shipping. Usually, it will arrive sooner, but customs departments do have the right to hold items and there is not much we can do about this. Also, we do not pay for anything to be released from customs to you.

Are your products made in the U.S.?
Yes, all of our products are made in our small production facility in Seattle, Washington.
What order do I apply the skincare products in?
Start by cleansing your face with one of our bar soaps. Follow with a spritz or two of one of our facial mists, which will help to remove any impurities remaining after cleansing, tighten pores, and prepare your face for better moisture absorption. Apply a few drops of Prism to give skin a natural glow. Follow with one of our facial oils, and wait 3 to 5 minutes before applying makeup, in order to allow the facial oil to set into the skin. If you use an SPF (which you should!), apply that after the facial oil and before the makeup.

What are discount code qualifications?
Discount codes are valid only on Herbivore-branded products and do not include Wellness Shop/third-party items. Is it safe to use your products alongside Retinol products?
Our products contain nurturing, hydrating and nourishing ingredients that support the health and resiliency of skin that is exposed to retinol products. This is with the exception of our masks and night products that contain AHAs and BHAs— these should be avoided, or used with caution, depending on the strength and frequency of retinol use.
