Prism + The Trevor Project

This Pride season we are proud to support The Trevor Project and their mission with every sale of our PRISM Pride Kit. They work 24/7 to provide life-saving, life-affirming support for LGBTQ youth in crisis. All June proceeds from sales of this kit will go to The Trevor Project and the Trans Women of Color Collective!

Herbivore Botanicals currently donates $1 for each sale of a PRISM product to The Trevor Project. This campaign includes:

PRISM AHA + BHA Exfoliating Glow Serum

PRISM AHA + BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial

The original formula for PRISM was imagined by Herbivore founder Julia Wills, as she sat meditating in Seattle’s gay-friendly Volunteer Park. Julia envisioned a serum that would gently exfoliate and brighten the skin, with ingredients inspired by the hues of the rainbow. This formula led her to conclude that Prism would be dedicated to serving the LBGTQ community.

Inspired by the 1994 Academy Award-winning short film by James Lecesne, Peggy Rajski, and Randy Stone, Trevor tells the tale of a gay 13-year old boy who, upon facing bullying at school for his sexuality, attempts to take his own life. The creators found that no lifeline existed in real life for teens like Trevor, so they decided to found The Trevor Project in 1998.

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people. The Trevor Project offers a suite of 24/7 crisis intervention and suicide prevention programs, including TrevorLifeline, TrevorText, and TrevorChat as well as the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth, TrevorSpace. Trevor also operates an education program with resources for youth-serving adults and organizations, an advocacy department fighting for pro-LGBTQ legislation and against anti-LGBTQ rhetoric/policy positions, and a research team to discover the most effective means to help young LGBTQ people in crisis and end suicide.

In the past year alone, the Trevor Project has handled over 45,000 suicide lifeline calls, and has educated over 22,000 youth-serving professionals. This invaluable organization focuses on crisis management and suicide prevention for LGBTQI youth, offering an in-depth online hub of resources including courses for teachers, and a 24-hour phone line for those struggling with suicidal thoughts. It is programs like these that build confidence and compassion where the need is greatest, and this work has tremendous rippling effects into the future.

Herbivore is proud to donate to The Trevor Project with the hope that we can help to prevent crisis and suicide amongst one of our most beloved populations. Our most recent Prism formula, PRISM Exfoliating Glow Facial, features a rainbow of botanical ingredients designed to bring out your most gorgeous glow, which will beam brighter knowing that a portion of your money will be going toward supporting the lives of LGBTQ youth.
